Malaysia produces only 62% of the rice it consumes and the national buffer would last just 45 days if supplies were cut off. In an era of climate volatility and global supply shocks, these numbers deserve a national conversation.

MIAST invites policymakers, industry leaders, farmers, researchers and civil society to the inaugural policy seminar on Malaysia's rice and food future. Drawing on research by Hanisa Hosni (MARDI) and the MIAST Research Team, the seminar will examine Malaysia's rice stockpile through a systems lens and open a sustained dialogue on the shifts needed for lasting food security.
